The first steps are the hardest…

If there’s one thing I can say with absolute certainty, it’s that building a modular training program like Through Their Eyes is not something that happens overnight. It’s not as simple as feeding ideas into AI and expecting a fully developed program to emerge. This work takes time, patience, and a lot of heart.

Creating an effective program means carefully crafting the outline, developing a meaningful storyboard, securing experts who bring knowledge and lived experience, and making sure every module is engaging, informative, and impactful. It’s a long process, but one that is absolutely worth it. While we recognize the challenges ahead, we are still on track to meet our ambitious goals this year.

There's no time to waste

One of our first major milestones was securing the Through Their Eyes website and officially registering Room To Care LLC, a new company dedicated to developing educational content that inspires real change. Our mission remains focused on creating training programs that not only inform but also motivate people worldwide to take action in their communities.

We are also excited to announce the return of some incredible experts who played key roles in past projects. Rebecca Bender, Bianca Davis, and Sean Walker (who many may recognize from our work on The Room Next Door training program for Motel 6) are officially back on board. Behind the scenes, we are grateful for the expertise and dedication of Farah Bhayani, Sandy Fulton, Kim Barber, and our newest compassionate expert, Ben Velani, who leads EchoEco at Echo360. Their combined experience and passion are shaping Through Their Eyes into something truly special.

Our biggest challenge yet

While we are still searching for additional experts to fill key positions, we are moving forward with one of the biggest challenges ahead: securing funding. We always knew this would be difficult, but recent shifts in financial support from the U.S. government have made securing grants even more complex. Despite these hurdles, this is a challenge worth taking on. We are working closely with individuals who specialize in navigating the grant process and are determined to secure the resources needed to bring this program to life.

There is still a long way to go, but each milestone brings us closer to making Through Their Eyes a reality. We are building something we believe will make a lasting impact, and we cannot wait to share more as we move forward.

To everyone following along, thank you. Your support means everything. Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s keep pushing forward together.

When Politics Silences Progress

Some posts are easier to write than others. This one isn’t. I’ve started and stopped it more times than I can count because the truth is, this topic hits too close. Not just because we’re seeing human trafficking rise in places like Texas and Florida, but because I’m building a program to help people understand it, and I’m watching that work get stalled by politics, fear, and a system that seems more interested in looking the other way than results. It’s frustrating. It’s exhausting. And it makes you wonder how many more survivors have to fall through the cracks before someone decides to listen. What I’m sharing here isn’t just data and headlines. It’s what happens when real people trying to make a difference get told to wait. To prove they’re legit. To sit still while the government freezes funding that was meant to help kids in danger, workers being exploited, and families with no way out. It’s what happens when you pour your heart into something and then have to fight twice as hard just to keep it alive. So yeah, this post is personal. Because if you’ve ever tried to fix something that’s broken while the people in charge argue over paperwork, then you’ll get it. And if you haven’t...then I hope this helps you see what’s at stake. ⸻

Not Everyone Gets the Training They Need And That’s a Problem

Most people picture human trafficking as something that happens far away, in dark corners of the world. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: it’s showing up in everyday places like motels, gas stations, ER waiting rooms, and even school hallways. And the people in those spaces, the ones who could speak up, ask questions, or make a call, often haven’t been trained to see the signs. It’s not just about compliance. It’s about care. About turning everyday workers into lifelines. And about finally addressing the silence that lets trafficking thrive. ⸻
